Saturday and Sunday turned out to be really fun days.
Saturday
We went to the Zoo after spending the night at my parents (so it only took us about 35 minutes to get to the zoo). Phin had a blast running around the nature paths.
We got their early, so all the animals were out playing. We got to see the elephants really really close up. The giraffes were close, even the gorillas were right up against the glass. It was really cool.
Phin did get cranky as we walked from Africa to North America, but as soon as we made it to the North American animals, he was happy again! Phin's favorite animals were the sea otters. He just laughed and laughed as he watched the swim and dive underwater.
Sunday
How do you top the zoo? I don't know either, but a mile from our house there is Ganyard Farms. Its a great Pumpkin farm. It cost $12.50 a person, but it was actually worth it. I've never seen so many half asian babies in North Carolina at the same time. It was a little weird, but cool that counting me and Heather, there were 4 mixed families at the farm. Lots of half asian/half caucasian babies running around.
Anyway, the farm was really fun. There are corn mazes to walk through, and you can pick the corn and grind it up and feed it to the goats. They had goats, pigs, cows and bunnies to look at. We went on a hayride pulled by a tractor and let me tell you, the Ganyard Farms has a lot of ACRES! It was a good 15 minutes hayride.
Not only was their cornflelds, but they are a pumpkin farm, so you get to pick out your own pumpkin. We got a small one for Phin and a medium size one for Heather (its covered in the cost of admission.)
It was a good sunday morning spent with the family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Afterwards we went down the street to the grocery store, got groceries and went home.
Phin passed out and I got to play Puzzle Quest while Phin took a 2 hour nap.
GREAT WEEKEND!

So tomorrow is Heather and My six year anniversary. Holy Crap I cant believe its been 6 years.
The most important thing I have learned about Heather in six years concerning holidays and special dates:
Never attempt to send her flowers because she will always attempt to sabotage your plans.
Since I've known Heather I've tried sending her flowers to her work only to have her decide the day of that she will take that day off. So year after year I have to figure out what she is going to do before she does it.
This year our anniversary is a Saturday. She normally works Saturdays, but knowing that she will probably attempt to sabotage my gift of flowers.. I went and ordered flowers for me to PICK UP personally.
I'm picking up her FLOWERS TODAY. A DAY EARLY. I will give her the flowers tonight when she gets home from work. It will be surprising, which is great! And it also allows me to avoid her sabotageness.
Because sure enough last week she told me she took Saturday off to spend with me. So that means I would have no sneaky way of getting the flowers to her without her suspecting something.
And even more sabotageyness She decides last night that she DOES want to WORK for 3 hours on Saturday.
See how crazy she is with making decisions? Its annoying but its also why I love her. She keeps me on my toes.
But the best news is that since I'm giving her, her flowers today that I don't have to worry about any of her craziness ruining my gift of flowers.
I may have wrote about this before but there is a flower shop down the road from our house called ANGEL ROSES. Its run by a Japanese Man and his American Wife. They are very very nice.
Saturday when I went in to visit, I brought Phineas and the man immediately asked if my wife was Oriental. I sorta cringed and said yes my wife is Korean. We had a polite conversation about the flowers order and about Phin.
But here is a question to my asian and asian american friends.. do you like the term "Oriental?"
Heather and her sister Joy HATE the term Oriental because they say its how you describe a rug not a human. But the fact that this Japanese man said it made me wonder.. Anyway he is an older man and his english is limited (so maybe that's why he used the term "oriental") or maybe its an older term as well... hmmm deep thoughts.
